My first detailed post from my trip to India is reserved for my favourite outing… a visit to Sanchi, a World Heritage Site. The only other Heritage sites I had been to are ones in London and our very own Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua.
Bhopal is a beautiful city with amazing scenery and is said to be one of India’s greenest cities. Bhopal is also home to 10 lakes and is aptly tagged as “The City of Lakes”. In this post, I’ll recap with words and images my picture perfect day trip to Bhopal’s Upper Lake.
Back in 2022, I secured an amazing Scholarship opportunity from the Indian Government to spend two weeks in the country learning about Women Empowerment, Policy and Vocational Training. I had the most amazing time and met amazing women who I still keep in touch with to this day. How Long Has It Been? Too Long! The last time I published anything on this blog was three years ago and in that time so much about me has changed. I feel as though I’ve let this Cotton Tree grow unwatered. I suppose I should take this as an opportunity to reacquaint myself with this space and reintroduce myself. It truly has been awhile.
A lot of toxic behaviours in relationships are deeply rooted in patriarchal thinking. The sense of entitlement men develop in these relationships as well as the desire to take more than necessary from men acting on the “instinct” to provide. Patriarchy has tipped the advantaged far into the male corner certainly but women also use the patriarchy and have developed “trash” tendencies because of it. Men and women are both toxic and “trash” and this has led to a very unhealthy relationship dynamic.
Just the other day my friends and I started playing this fashion game called Covet Fashion (it's available in the Appstore and Google Play). The fashions available in that game are so bomb and I love them. One of the brands I came across was BCBG MAX AZRIA and so I did a little research. I found one of their runway shows, fell more in love, and decided that you needed to know about them too :) so here we go >>
So, I've braided my hair and am growing it out. I am in transition. I'm feeling happy with myself and I can't wait to big chop. Anyway, today was our honorary valentines day at college. I wore an Aeropostale Sundress and a Kenneth Cole Reaction Jacket. I felt very pretty with my outfit and my box braids. Happy Valentines Everyone :)
I was stalking the Vogue website and found some awesome catwalk fashions from House Of Holland. They will be premiered at the New York Fashion Week and i love them. They have a preppy edge while still managing to be fashion forward. Take a look!

Well, i have decided to do something very very different. I am cutting my hair. I made the decision not too long ago to grow out my hair and go natural. However, i was always fearful of how i'd look without hair. I prefer to hide behind it and i always felt that hair made me prettier. I've decided that i need to find myself and face life without hiding behind the curtain that is my hair. So ... when i have adequate natural hair length.. i will go chop chop and say good bye to my hair. I'll keep you up to date on how it's all going... I've already cut off my hair to about shoulder length, i'm already missing it... but i think i need this journey.
For a while i have been following the blog Simply Cyn. When i began my transition to natural hair, i made it my mission to research all the natural hair bloggers out there to help me during my transition. I've basically just started the process and have been without relaxer for about 2 months. I'm getting there slowly but surely.
