"Days in the Sun and Nights in the Rain, Summer is Over Simple and Plain"
Summer 2017 was a good one. It was filled with many beach days and laughs and was probably one of the most solid breaks I've had in a long time. It was a homecoming especially after being away from everything and everyone that were familiar to me for a year.
Like all good things, My summer began with friends by the seaside. We'd all been away or busy and not physically involved with each other for the past year and it was nice to recharge and reconnect.
I spent a large portion of the Summer working, but I'd much prefer to focus on the frequent and well spent days soaking up sun on the beach.
It was amazing revisiting my old haunts now that I'd been so far away from them and realizing just how important they were for me. That's probably why I was always at the beach because It's so essential to my mental health.
Apart from employment obligations, beach obligations and sleep, summer was also spent at fetes. Being surrounded by local sounds, voices, people in those packed vibrant surroundings was awesome. There are parties in London but the experience isn't the same and the sound of Soca is lost on them. It was also nice to get out at night and meet up with friends and laugh and enjoy each other's company.
I also did a lot of Island hopping. I went to St Croix, St Maarten and Anguilla. It was wonderful to explore outside of Antigua and experience other islands. It was in fact quite satisfying.
The Summer also worked its magic and gifted us with an Eclipse. Don't ask me for photos because in the Caribbean that Eclipse wasn't promoted enough and I wasn't prepared 🙂
