The Golden Years are Over

img_2886.jpg

Last Week, I graduated from College and I now am the Holder of an Associates Degree in Humanities Studies. I'm so very proud of myself for coming this far. After 2 years of hard work I can say I've successfully finished this stage.

I can look back on my accomplishments and smile. I was the President of the Journalism Association, The Director of International Affairs for the Interact Club, The Graduation Representative for my Department, and I was a good student.  My GPA at the end of my first year was 3.66 sadly, they changed the mark scheme and now i have a 3.58, .02 away from honours lol, But I still think i did a pretty good Job.

I made alot of new friends, and made closer bonds with my older ones. These are the Golden Days that I will always Cherish & Remember for the rest of my life. The times in Law class & the Jokes before History.

Thank God for all he's done & all he continues to do in my life, and i know that i'll be on to greater things in the Future.

Sundays...

img_1854.jpg

Sunday is my favorite day of the weekend.  I get to bum and sleep in a bit later,  and on a good day like today, i get to call up my friends and go to the beach.  Quite frankly,  i think more locals  need to get up,  go outside, and enjoy what's free of charge right infront of them.

Today my friend Jhodonna and I decided to visit Galleon Beach.  It's one of my favorite places as it has breathtaking scenery and awesome chill spots.  Plus not alot of persons know where it is so it's perfectly quiet and excellent for relaxation.

At the beach, there is also a pretty neat restaurant called Roxy's. We ordered Coconut Crushes and barbecue chicken wings and fries.  We had an Awesome time.

We had invited a few more persons (2) but they weren't able to make it.  They sure missed out on a great day at the rock pools.

18...

I've been having exams, so it's been awhile since I've posted. But this month made me 18. I am greatful for 18 years of life, love, and learning. I am thankful for the journey i'm on and the choices I've made so far along the road. Sure i've made mistakes, but every mistake is a learning experience.    I'm extremely greatful for my supportive group of friends. I am thankful for my inner circle those 5 beautiful persons  who have latched on to me and have helped in some way or another to nurture my talent. They've stuck with me through the rough patches and for that I'm grateful.

I'm greatful that I'm growing in grace. Never did i think that I'd grow into such a person. I've been told that I inspire and i hope to continue doing that. I'm greatful for my talents, especially photography which has opened so many avenues for me and allowed me to meet such inspirational characters. All the things I've accomplished could not be possible without God.

I am greatful for another chance for another year. Thank God for all he continues to do and for his continued work on me and through me. I've now opened the book of adulthood, i hope the upcoming chapters are just as exciting as the last.

Wash and Go: Cantu Products

I did a wash and go on Saturday and I am highly satisfied with the level of definition and hold that i had :)  I used Cantu products to achieve the look. I washed my hair with Tresseme's Conditioner (For all Hair Types apparently) and washed it out of my hair. Then I took some Cantu Leave in Conditioner and moisturized my hair and coat my curls. Then i put Cantu's define and shine custard onto my sectioned hair. I had to use a small amount as it is a very sticky substance and leaves a lot of residue. After coating my hair with the custard my curls started to become heavily defined (as shown in the photographs). I was satisfied with the hold that i achieved with the product and rocked defined hair for 3 days in a row. I do commend Cantu for creating products that work well with my hair, but i'm still peeved about the level of residue that the product creates. Yes the hold is great, yes my curls are defined, but having giant chunks of dried product in my hair is not pretty. After 3 days of wearing my hair like that, i had to wash my hair to remove the custard residue. Even after intense washing and rinsing, my hair was still covered in residue, so i resorted to brushing the clumps out of my hair. :( I really do love the definition as shown in the photographs, but the residue that is left is just not cutting it for me. All in all the product gets top mark for definition and hold, but scores poorly in the residue department. IMG_8531

Out and About: Pillars of Hercules

img_0422.jpg

With the Weekend being blissfully lengthy, I had a lot of time to explore the hangouts on my island. The Pillars of Hercules are a notable attraction that is awe inspiring to both locals and visitors alike. Every time i take the trek to see the pillars, the breathtaking dominance of the stone never ceases to amaze. This structure, like most of the world's wonders, is a sign that the earth is an amazingly beautiful place, and that God has to be an artist. As i am a photographer, i took it upon myself to share with you all the wonders of my little island paradise.

I did have my canon, but climbing around with a DSLR around water isn't much of a good idea. So i entrusted most of the photography to my iPhone 5c. The camera could not capture the splendor as much as seeing it face to face would, but i can say that the photos still portray the beauty good enough for you to enjoy. I was suited up in all blue so i could blend in with the sea :)

I also took the time out  to test out my new selfie stick and my under water pouch to get even more dynamic views. I had an excellent Easter Monday getting sun burnt and salty haired... which bite me in the butt later as my hair was hell to detangle and de-sand. Getting to the pillars isn't really all that hard. If you're familiar with the English Harbour area, you drive on down to Galleon Beach and keep walking around toward the rocks.... hop across some loose rocks.... then the mountain side starts to take on an interesting ridge shape... and BLAM the pillars begin to unfold before your eyes and it all appears.  In the photo below you can faintly see a fisherman on the rocks behind me.

A little ways past the pillars, and a lot more climbing, you'd come across some really beautiful rock pools. The pool is shown below :). It's basically two chambers with the first always filled and pool like, and the second is only full at high tide as it is a sort of over flow chamber. It's a really calm place to just relax, chill and reflect. If ever i'm stressed, it's kind of soothing to just think about that place. I'm not really sure how the weather was able to shape the pillars, but i'm really glad that they exist.

BAKING SODA - Why I Regret Putting It In My Hair

Every time I see a blog post about the wonders of baking soda for your hair, I get upset. I thoroughly regret my decision to ever put that powder anywhere near my wonderful fro. I read a post saying that using baking soda cleans your hair and promotes softness as well as moisture. It also advised me to leave it in for a long period of time. How stupid I feel now! Even though my natural hair journey is supposed to be a learning experience based on trial and error, i could have gone without this error. My hair which was thick and luscious,  now feels brittle and weak. This was after 1 use. From afar you may not be able to tell the damage, but my hair is rough to the touch and retains limited moisture.

My hair doesn't even shrink as much as it used to, and i welcome shrinkage... So, I'm going to start the process of rebuilding my hair. I will be more careful this time to stay far away from things that most people rave about. Of course I'm not starting again from scratch, but i will repair what i have and do better. I will start with oil washes and deep conditioners to rebuild the protein and moisture of my hair strands... I will post a photo of my baking soda damaged hair and document my progress. If anyone has recommended baking soda to you, turn them down and warn them of the damage that is being done to their hair.
